CANCELED: 6th Annual SnO&W Snowshoe Walk & Hike
CANCELED: Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, this year’s SnO&W will be canceled due to the predictions of extremely cold temperatures, anticipated wind, and more snow than we can manage to encumber- even with our snowshoes. Check back soon here on our events page to check out when we will have our next trail event- more information to come. Stay safe and warm, everyone!
This year’s SnO&W will begin at the Mamakating Environmental Education Center (MEEC) and participants will have the opportunity to choose from an “out and back” walk starting from MEEC or participants can be shuttled to the DEC Bashakill Area Boat Launch to walk back to MEEC for a total of 1.7 miles along the former railbed of the NYO&W Railway which went bankrupt and discontinued its service in 1957. Friendly leashed dogs are welcome to join along. Participants are encouraged to bring their own snowshoes or similar gear if they have them. Limited snowshoes and microspikes will be available to rent, free of charge, on a first come first serve basis.
Water, coffee, and hot chocolate will be provided free of charge.
Participating fire departments in the Sullivan 180 Healthiest Fire Department Challenge will receive 3 points for attending with five or more active members.
